Our Community Promise

At UpMentor-X, we are committed to fostering a safe, respectful, and inclusive environment where mentors and mentees can connect, learn, and grow together. This Code of Conduct outlines the behavior standards we expect from all community members.

By using our platform, you agree to uphold these standards and contribute to a positive, professional community experience for everyone.

1. Respect & Professionalism

Be Courteous

Treat all members with kindness, empathy, and respect regardless of their background, experience level, or identity.

Be Honest

Provide accurate information about your skills, experience, and availability. Don't misrepresent your qualifications.

Be Prepared

Show up on time for sessions, come prepared with relevant materials, and be present during discussions.

Expected Professional Behaviors:

  • Use professional language and maintain appropriate boundaries
  • Listen actively and provide constructive feedback
  • Respect others' time, perspectives, and experiences
  • Communicate clearly about expectations, goals, and availability
  • Honor commitments and notify promptly if plans change

2. Zero Tolerance Policy

The following behaviors will result in immediate action, including account suspension or termination:

Harassment of Any Kind

Including but not limited to:

  • Sexual harassment, unwanted advances, or inappropriate comments
  • Bullying, intimidation, or threatening behavior
  • Stalking or persistent unwanted contact
  • Doxing or sharing private information without consent

Hate Speech & Discrimination

No tolerance for:

  • Discrimination based on race, ethnicity, religion, gender, sexual orientation, disability, or any protected characteristic
  • Hate speech, slurs, or derogatory language
  • Promotion of hate groups or extremist ideologies

Illegal Activity

Prohibited activities include:

  • Fraud, scams, or misrepresentation of credentials
  • Sharing pirated content or violating intellectual property rights
  • Any activity that violates Indian law

Unauthorized Solicitation

Do not use our platform for:

  • Soliciting business outside the platform to avoid fees
  • Multi-level marketing (MLM) or pyramid schemes
  • Spam, unsolicited advertising, or promotional content

3. Confidentiality & Privacy

Privacy Expectations:

  • Maintain the privacy and confidentiality of all conversations with your matches
  • Do not share session recordings, notes, or personal information without explicit consent
  • Respect professional boundaries and confidentiality agreements
  • Do not use information obtained through mentorship for commercial or competitive purposes

Exceptions to Confidentiality:

Confidentiality may be breached in the following circumstances:

  • Risk of Harm: Imminent threat of harm to self or others
  • Abuse or Exploitation: Evidence of child abuse, elder abuse, or exploitation
  • Legal Requirements: Valid court orders or lawful government requests
  • Platform Safety: Violations of this Code of Conduct or Terms of Service

4. Professional Disclaimer

For Mentors:

  • Unless you explicitly state you are a licensed professional (lawyer, doctor, therapist, financial advisor, etc.), do not provide professional advice requiring licensure
  • Clearly communicate the scope and limitations of your guidance
  • Recommend mentees seek licensed professionals for legal, medical, financial, or mental health matters

For Mentees:

  • You are responsible for evaluating advice and making your own decisions
  • Mentorship is guidance based on experience, not professional counseling or legal advice
  • Outcomes of decisions made based on mentorship guidance are your responsibility
  • Consult licensed professionals for matters requiring expert certification

5. Reporting Violations

If you witness or experience a violation of this Code of Conduct, please report it immediately. We take all reports seriously and investigate them promptly.

Confidentiality Guaranteed:

  • • All reports are kept confidential
  • • Your identity is protected throughout the investigation
  • • We do not tolerate retaliation against reporters

6. Legal Compliance

This Code of Conduct is enforced in compliance with Indian law:

Information Technology Act, 2000

We comply with Section 69A and intermediary liability rules, acting on valid government or court orders.

Safe Harbour Protection

As an intermediary platform, we maintain safe harbour protection by acting promptly on valid legal orders and content removal requests.

Jurisdiction

Any disputes arising from Code of Conduct violations are subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of courts in New Delhi, India.
